WARNOCK BACK DEFENSIVE DUO
Leeds United boss Neil Warnock has said that he is extremely confident with the current central defence pair of Tom Lees and Darren O’Dea.
The two central defenders have been part of the Leeds United first-team in the last three matches, and it seems that Warnock is sufficiently pleased with their performances that he has said that he is more likely to continue with the same pairing for the rest of the season.
After arriving at Elland Road a few months ago, Neil Warnock was expected to bring changes to the defensive pairing at Leeds United. However, the performances of Tom Lees and Darren O’Dea have been extremely good in the last few matches that Neil Warnock could stick with the same for the rest of the matches as well.
Even after the appointment of Neil Warnock, Leeds United are struggling to make it into the play-offs position. They remain seven points off the pace from the last placed team in the play-offs position – Cardiff City. Their form also has nosedived in recent weeks after Neil Warnock has just one victory in five matches. Despite this, Neil Warnock has said that both Tom Lees and Darren O’Dea have convinced the him sufficiently in order to retain them for the rest of the season before thinking about making changes to the defence in the summer.
“Young Lees was superb and he’s improved in every game. And apart from the goal on Saturday, Darren’s done everything I’ve asked of him. He got caught out for one goal but he’s done well. I’d like to (bring new players in) and I was after a centre-half but when I look at the two I’ve got at the moment, I don’t think I could get much better than that,” Warnock said after the 0-0 draw with Hull City during the weekend.
