Leeds United manager Neil Redfearn has confirmed that the club are planning to be active during the January transfer window in order to arrest the slide.
Leeds have been slipping down the table since the start of the season. Owner Massimo Cellino has not been able to achieve much success despite several managerial changes. Even thoughRedfearn’s position at the club continues to be under speculation after yet another defeat in the league, he believes that January will provide him with an opportunity to strengthen their squad and improve results.
The club have taken just one point from the last five league matches and the year ended with a 2-0 defeat against Derby County. The immense poor form shown by Leeds United is made even worse by the fact that they have scored only two goals in the last five matches. As a result, they sit just one point above Millwall in the drop zone. The Championship takes a break for a week as the third round of the FA Cup begins with Leeds United travelling to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland.Redfearn will be hoping for victory which would then come as a major confidence boost for the team ahead of the away match against Bolton.
“Perhaps there’s got to be a bit of short-termism here. The boys who are here have been fantastic but they need some help. They need other players to come in, freshen us up and give us a bit of experience. But I’ve had this conversation with Massimo. We’re well aware of it. We need that depth, that competition and real game-changers on the bench. At the moment it’s not the case. In the first half we were quite measured and organised but the goal just before half-time put a different slant on things,” said Redfearn.

The Italian entrepreneur Massimo Cellino was the owner of Cagliari for 22 years before he decided to sell it to TommasoGiullini a few months ago on June. During his time as the owner of Cagliari, there were a total of 36 different managers that took control of the Italian club and because of this it was why Cellino earned his nickname as: ‘’The Manager Eater’’.
After selling Cagliari, Cellino decided to take over the Championship League club Leeds United which was completed on April 10 with the family of Massimo acquiring 75% of shares of the English club.
Since Cellino became the majority shareholder of Leeds United in April, there have already been 4 different managers selected as the coach of the club and the latest one is Neil Redfearn. Massimo Cellino is hoping that Redfearn will be the only coach for the next 10 years.
Massimo Cellino said: “I hope he stays at least 10 years. That is the dream, to keep him as coach for at least 10 years. It’s very difficult to say what will be success. If I knew the team I could tell you ’20 points’ and the team will play a certain style of football. But if you don’t know which team you’re going to have, it’s very difficult to say. I think he has to build something and take the best that we have got and then in January we have to go into the market. But we don’t give money to the manager to spend. I manage this club. I’ll work with my coach; we’ll work together because the way in England is not my way to work’’
Massimo Cellino wants to keep Neil Redfearn for the long run but it will ultimately depend on the results that the coach manages to get especially now in the remaining months of the current year.

New Leeds United manager Darko Milanic says that he is very much looking forward to getting his first victory at this new club. The Slovenian was recently appointed as the new manager of the club in what is already proving to be a troubled time under the new ownership. The prospect of getting promoted to the Premier League through the automatic spots may appear to have gone away even at this early stage in the season, but the prospect of finishing in the play-offs is still viable. Milanic has been in charge of Leeds United for three matches, but he has been able to get only two points so far.
They take on Rotherham, who have been struggling for results themselves, away from home this weekend. Rotherham finally managed to bring an end to a poor run of home form by beating Blackburn 2-0 just before the international break. Hence, there is a possibility that they will be feeling confident against Leeds, who have just one win in the last five away matches. This coming together of different set of forms could cause leads to suffer yet another defeat. It will be extremely disappointing for Milanic to convince that he is the right man for the job.
Leeds are 14th in the table with 15 points so far. “It’s important. The win is like the sun. Today the sun is out. I hope tomorrow also. For me it’s extremely important to train with my team and we have done a lot of things (in the break). We played very well in the last game. We did well in defensive play but also in possession. We did a lot of good things and made opportunities to score goals. We were close to the win against Sheffield Wednesday. We were close,” said the boss.
