The position of Manchester United concerning a transfer for James seems to have changed in a matter of days. Last week, The Sun reported that Manchester United won’t let the Welsh international leave this summer despite the £73m arrival ofJadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in his right wing position. It was further stated that Leeds United are still interested in signing the player.

The abovementioned publication from ESPN disclosed that James is one of the players on the transfer list at Manchester United but he won’t leave below his valuation. Welsh national team winger James is entering his third season at Manchester United following his move from English Championship club Swansea City. He left Welsh team Swansea City to sign for Manchester United in the summer of 2019.

The transfer links involving James and Leeds United date back to when he was a Swansea City player. Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa wanted to sign him in 2019 as reported by the Daily Mail. Leeds United tried to sign him again before the start of last season according to the Manchester Evening News (MEN)but they were unable to achieve their quest to secure the signature of the Manchester United winger.

James made 15 appearances for the Red Devils in the Premier League last season including four appearances from the substitute bench. He finished the last Premier League campaign with three goals and an assist. The Welshman played 33 minutes for Manchester United in the Champions League last season before they were demoted to the Europa League. He featured in seven Europa League games as Manchester United reached the final.
