Leeds To Terminate Diagouraga’s Contract

Leeds United have reached an agreement with the Frenchman Toumani Diagouraga to terminate his contract. Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay on Thursday confirmed through his personal Twitter account on Thursday that the “deal is done” for Diagouraga, to put an end to his one-and-a-half year stay at Elland Road.

It was stated that the agreement will be met on Friday and that some interested teams are already queueing to welcome his signature if he eventually becomes a free agent. Hay claims that Championship sides Barnsley and Bristol City are the first teams on the line for the 30-year old midfielder while League One outfit MK Dons are not left out in the race as well.

Diagouraga’s Leeds contract currently ends by June 2018, but will no longer be able to add to the 20 appearances he has for the club in all competitions. The previous campaign saw the Frenchman play just once for the Whites before he was launched out on loan to Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich for the second half of the season.

The former Brentford player has had a frustrating spell at Leeds United and it seems good that he has been able to reach an agreement with the club to leave so that he can go on to another pasture. It shows how far the Leeds squad has been improved that players like the 30-year old can’t fit in anymore and the fact that he played a lot more at Ipswich shows that the Whites are now a determined EPL promotion contenders.

Leeds fans will no doubt wish Diagouraga the best in trying to find a new club, as there are teams already vying for his signature. Staying in the Championship might be a good move for him while signing for Barnsley may not be a bad choice for him.
